Information about calling in Spain.

      To call another country from Gran Canaria is easy. 

               You only need four things in this order:

 1. Exit code to UK and other european countries is=00

 2. The country access code to UK is=44 

 3. The local area code to where you are calling. 

     ie: calling Manchester=161. 

     When calling from another country you always drop      the zero from the local area code.      

 4. The phone number you want to call. ie: 777 5678

      When you put them together=00-44-161-777-5678

 The Canarie Islands, Balarics and mainland Spain, are all under the umbrella of Spain.

To make a call from within Spain to another Spanish number you just dial the listed number without the country code. Numbers that start with a 928 are landlines in Gran Canaria. Numbers that begin with a 6 are mobile phones. Other numbers will be special. Only 900 numbers are toll-free, 90X numbers are not free.

Phone Cards in Spain. When you purchase a phone card, you will find several numbers listed including: a free (gratis) number, a mobile number and a normal number.

The free line is good, but if you can use a pay phone or call from a landline it’s much cheaper and you’ll get more minutes.
